Pretzels!

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been VERY busy. Traveling to villages at -35 below zero, walking on rivers, and running around busier than a bee!

smile

I have had time at home, but when I get home, I just want to sew or bake, or bark orders at my kids who want to bake!

roll

So, last night Kaisa decided she wanted Pretzels. Homemade ones.

And coincidentally I got a new Food Network Magazine and Guy Fieri's pretzel recipe was in there for us to use! (she swears it wasn't because she saw the photos but because she wanted pretzels!)

pret

Pretzels are so easy a seven year old can make them! (With a little direction from momma of course.)

twist

She measured the ingredients into the Kitchenaid while the honey and yeast mixture sat and bubbled. Turned it on and waited patiently.

egg

We really only had to wait for them to rise about fifteen minutes or so. Otherwise it took her so long to roll the dough, cut it and roll into pretzels that it rose waiting for her!

salt

And they turned out wonderfully grand. Hot and crusty and salty on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside.

done

Yum.

The look delicious. I've been curious about the Food Network magazine - I am a magazine junkie. Do you like it? I decided to take a break from Cooks Illustrated so I'm kind of deciding which one to get next.

Those look delicious!!

I think my little boys would have fun making interesting shapes out of the dough to eat.

We LOOOOVE the Food Network Magazine! :)

I have to have a disclaimer or else PETA comes after me and my killing animal posts. :)

Maybe you should offer them a hot dog with a homemade pretzel.
